Areas of law / Construction law
Focused help with building contracts and disputes. Tell us whether you are a property owner, contractor or other project participant, and whether the issue concerns payment, performance or an existing dispute process.
Advice, drafting and representation
We will look for an independent barrister with relevant experience. Acceptance depends on availability, conflict checks and whether the proposed work is suitable for Public Access.
Advice on contract terms, changes to scope, payment and alleged non-performance.
Defined advice, written submissions or representation concerning an adjudication.
Preparation and advocacy for construction-related claims and injunction applications.
Prepare your enquiry
Have the building contract, variations, payment records, relevant notices and a project timeline ready. If adjudication or court proceedings have started, identify the timetable immediately.
For your first message, a short outline is enough. Please do not send original documents or unnecessary sensitive information.
Matching and fees
Tell us whether you need a consultation, written advice, document drafting or representation. We use that outline to seek an appropriate barrister and clarify the proposed instruction.
Ask for a quote covering preparation, the agreed work and any hearing attendance. The amount depends on complexity, document volume, urgency and counsel’s experience. Confirm VAT, any additional charges and the total payable in writing before proceeding.
The scope of work and responsibility for procedural tasks should be clear. A solicitor may still be needed. Read more about fees.
Common questions
Yes. Explain the work agreed, what is disputed and your role. The proposed instruction will be considered against counsel’s experience and availability.
State whether you are referring or responding to the dispute, the date any notice was received and the next deadline. Counsel will need to assess the time available before accepting work.
Call 020 3411 2512 or send a short outline through our contact page. The WhatsApp button is also available if you prefer to message.
An enquiry is not legal advice and does not create a barrister–client relationship or protect a deadline. Direct Access Barristers is an introduction and administration service. Legal services are provided separately by the independent barrister you instruct.
