Insolvency and bankruptcy barristers

Find counsel for an insolvency application or hearing. Tell us whether the matter concerns an individual or a company, your role and the document or hearing that requires attention. We can look for relevant insolvency experience.

Advice, drafting and representation

What can you enquire about?

We will look for an independent barrister with relevant experience. Acceptance depends on availability, conflict checks and whether the proposed work is suitable for Public Access.

01

Statutory demands

Advice about a demand and the issues raised by the person receiving or pursuing it.

02

Bankruptcy proceedings

Assessment of applications, supporting documents and representation at hearings.

03

Company insolvency

Advice on disputes and procedural questions arising in company insolvency matters.

Prepare your enquiry

Start with the issue and the important dates.

Identify the document received, when it was served, the parties and any hearing date. Keep the demand or petition, orders and supporting financial records ready for review.

For your first message, a short outline is enough. Please do not send original documents or unnecessary sensitive information.

Matching and fees

Agree the work before you instruct.

Tell us whether you need a consultation, written advice, document drafting or representation. We use that outline to seek an appropriate barrister and clarify the proposed instruction.

Ask for a quote covering preparation, the agreed work and any hearing attendance. The amount depends on complexity, document volume, urgency and counsel’s experience. Confirm VAT, any additional charges and the total payable in writing before proceeding.

The scope of work and responsibility for procedural tasks should be clear. A solicitor may still be needed. Read more about fees.

Common questions

Insolvency & bankruptcy enquiries

What should I tell you if I have received a demand?

Give the document type, date of receipt and any stated deadline in your first enquiry. Do not assume that contacting us pauses the process or secures representation.

Can I enquire as a creditor or company director?

Yes. Explain your role and the help you need. The barrister will assess the proposed instruction, relevant experience and any conflicts.

Make an enquiry

An enquiry is not legal advice and does not create a barrister–client relationship or protect a deadline. Direct Access Barristers is an introduction and administration service. Legal services are provided separately by the independent barrister you instruct.
